In the same file are lines such as:

    \definefontsynonym [ec-uplr8a] [uplr8t] [encoding=ec]

creating a synonym for the existing tfm file. This should work without
any new files:

    \usetypescript[berry][ec]
    \usetypescript[palatino][ec]
    \setupbodyfont[palatino]
