No idea why this is like that. Network errors like these are beyond my

Some routers simply don't honour ttl fields properly and just drop packets instead of sending an error back. That breaks traceroute and is a real pain when debugging network problems.

But then I wonder why you reach the host...

There seem to be no network problems, as far as I can see. (Cool -- we've got virtual servers on the same machine, mine is at m24s06!)
