Oops... So, I should stop using these aliases and distribute the .sty files instead. Last time that I looked at these .sty files, they just loaded the .tex files without any additional code.
indeed; the currenr version are more latex compliant; i've forgotten when this change was made, but it must be a couple of years ago since i had to look into the files to see what was happening when you mentioned aliasing -)
