Oh, one more thing: interestingly, updating ConTeXt makes pdflatex break, too - in fact, every flavor of TeX that use pdfetex. pdfetex somehow reads a mapfile that ConTeXt provides and then complains about missing font. So I have to use the prior beta.
ah, i see, this pdftex.map should not be in the zip; it ended up in my path when playing with map files for idris aleph etc
