XeTeX isn't really an option since it's missing the microtype extensions which is really do want. I still haven't got LuaTeX running properly. Something I wonder about is why all those installation instructions weren't executed before creating the tarballs. I understand this is a beta. But making the installation less complex might get you more testers. I should probably reread the docs, and put some more effort into it.
