The official release date was 10/1/2008, Don Knuths 70th birthday, to who this font is dedicated. The font itself cellebrates its 25th birthday. The redesign involves changes in strokes, many small details so that the fonts can be used at larger sizes, a few new glyphs, but also some more drastic updates. These fonts replace the existing euler. The fonts are metric compatible with the old ones. This year the second stage of the New Euler project starts which will result in a substantial covering of unicode math.
