Hello,
The \column command does not want to obey me ... The text following
\column simply jumps to the next page.
This time I cannot think of any workaround :(
Well, in the worst case I can still insert a table.

\dorecurse{80}{dummy }
\startcolumns
\externalfigure[dummy][width=\textwidth]
\input tufte
\column
\input tufte
\stopcolumns
\input tufte
\stoptext
