Hi Peter, I just ran into the same issue but with $\to$: I was going to report the bug when I read your message. Actually as I am reporting in another message, it seems that some parameter is not set (?): the common diagnostic is always ! Math error: parameter \Umathquad\displaystyle is not set. It is clear that I cannot expalin the issue… I am reporting just to help nail down the bug. (There is no problem with mkii).
