What is the difference between {\delta} and \delta?
Former is OK, but the second is not compiled.
Here is a MWE.
\startbuffer[delta]
label.bot(btex ${\delta}$ etex, (1cm,0)); %
%label.bot(btex $\delta$ etex, (3cm,0));
label.bot(btex $\frac{2-\delta}{2}$ etex, (5cm,0)); %
\stopbuffer
\starttext
\processMPbuffer[delta]
\stoptext
