Sorry, it is now:

\startchemicalformula
\chemical{text}
\chemical{text}{below}
\chemical{text}{above}{below}
\stopchemicalformula

and it can be enclosed in

\startplacechemical
   ...
\stopplacechemical

to get numbered (chemical) equations.
