I didn’t because that’s part of the install script, isn’t it? I run that more or less daily. But it doesn’t change anything – deleted the fonts from Library, they’re still in texmf-fonts, --generate, --reload --force => fonts not found. Since my texmf-fonts is a symlink (to avoid the same tree in several installations), I also checked if a “real” directory solves the problem – no.
