It also introduces backgrounds, a.o. for programlistings, but unfortunately this feature seems to cause spurious page breaks under certain circumstances.
What background mechanism do you use? The new one? The new one works in columns, floats and is pretty powerful (nesting, layering etc)
\definetextbackground[blabla] etc ? [discussed in details.pdf of which i will upload a more extendes version later]
