I can't see any characters that are being displayed wrong, indeed I almost see 
no chars yet, since I'm seeing still the spinning GIF.
I'm assuming you call " The document will render with garbled text in some 
browser configurations if the document contains characters from outside the 
US-ASCII range" problem one. And also you call " TypeError: 
child.className.split is not a function" problem two.
Out of the two problems which one is the one that causes the spinning GIF?
