if you have ubuntu you just need to install the librrd-dev and ntop will recognize it immediately. The error you are reporting is an issue of RRD not of ntop

I installed ntop on a new ubuntu server, using apt-get which installed 4.99. This is working, but it suggests upgrading, and I can't get the regional maps to work (it freezes the browser). So I downloaded the tarball for 5.0.1 and got stuck on the please use --with-rrd-home=DIR issue. Nothing I did got me past that, so following some of the suggestions, i downloaded the tarball for rrdtool-1.4.7 and attempted to install that. Here too, I hit a bunch of obstacles, but got past tham and got it to compile, but when I run make, I get the g_tree_lookup error:

/usr/bin/ld: rrdcached-rrd_daemon.o: undefined reference to symbol 'g_tree_lookup' /usr/bin/ld: note: 'g_tree_lookup' is defined in DSO /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0 so try adding it to the linker command line /lib/i386-linux-gnu/libglib-2.0.so.0: could not read symbols: Invalid operation

which, once again, I can't seem to get past.

Can anyone help with getting 5.0.1 installed ? Thanks in advance.
