I have decided to try this out, so I scrubbed my system of all ports,
then installed subversion, postfix, portmaster and portaudit, which of
course sucked in a few dependent ports.

The compile bombs out with this:

     libtool: link: ranlib .libs/libndpi.a
     libtool: link: ( cd ".libs" && rm -f "libndpi.la" && ln -s
"../libndpi.la" "libndpi.la" )
     cd ./third-party/LuaJIT-2.0.1; make
"Makefile", line 27: Need an operator
     Error expanding embedded variable.
     gmake: *** [third-party/LuaJIT-2.0.1/src/libluajit.a] Error 2

Commands I used to get this far - I'm su'ed to root:

     svn co https://svn.ntop.org/svn/ntop/trunk/ntopng/
     cd ntopng/
     ./configure
     gmake

I was using the trunk version of ntop 5.0.2 on this machine before,
requiring gmake, so I expected to need to do the same with ntopng.

Let me know what I can do next to further the effort.

Thanks,

Kurt
