Note that this is a minimal, ugly set.

But it fixes the problems doing a ./autogen.sh -1, ./configure and make ON
MY LINUX SYSTEM.

You will still get some warnings...


Be aware that I'm working on a total rewrite of the scripts, designed to
eliminate ./autogen.sh -1

I have it working to the point of being able to compile, but the
fancy --enable --disable --with and so forth parameters aren't yet working.
I'm looking for testers...  esp. non-Linux non-FreeBSD people...
