I'm not aware of a serious leak. You need to look at the stats before it dies - there are lots of things external to ntop that can cause large #s of hosts, which equate to a lot of memory. Read up on this in the back traffic and in docs/FAQ.
Of course, you don't bother to give any useful information about the environment, so it's only a guess. There have been a lot of fixes 'tween 2.1.55 and now, might try the current version too. -----Burton -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Garvin Hicking Sent: Tuesday, March 04, 2003 5:18 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Ntop-dev] Memory usage and dying (ntop 2.1.55) Hi! I have a normally configured&built ntop 2.1.55 on my debian woody system (p3 800, 256MB RAM). I wanted to mainly use ntop for rrdtool dumping. But after about 18 hours of usage ntop dies because of its memory consumption Mar 4 00:45:08 mostlyharmless kernel: Out of Memory: Killed process 25449 (ntop). I checked the memory usage 3 hours before and ntop was taking up 40.5% of my total memory (the other memory being used up by an edonkey-app). Are there any options to be tweaked concerning dumping/releasing memory? Or is there a bug/memory leak involved? Regards, Garvin. _______________________________________________ Ntop-dev mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://listgateway.unipi.it/mailman/listinfo/ntop-dev _______________________________________________ Ntop-dev mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://listgateway.unipi.it/mailman/listinfo/ntop-dev
