Here's a status update on reported problems with 2.2 (and 2.2.1 the
development version)

----
YK9NN6B - Native Posix Thread Library doesn't like ntop
(PR_YPDZ9WX is dup)
Problem: (and FAQish answer) 'ntop does not work properly with NPTL,
which is presently available ONLY in RH9 and is not (yet) part of the
standard Linux Kernel. The symptom seems to be frequent but random failures
in the libpthread.so library.
Status: We are aware of the situation and are looking into it.
Work-around: setting LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.4.1 before ./configure and make
(and probably before starting ntop) seems to solve the problems. What this
does is to invoke the older linuxthreads library. How long this work around
will remain available is unknown.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
TPG2XT6 - gzopen() bombs while returning compressed page to user
(CVVJCLB is dup)
Problem: For unknow reasons, the gzopen() is bombing, and/or the
gzflush() call. It appears to be some sort of stream/memory corruption.
Note that the backtrace in TPG2XT6 may actually be the NPTL problem, but the
basic issue has been reported under Linux, FreeBSD, and Solaris.
Status: Under investigation
Work-around: Disable the compression of pages - change config.h's
#define MAKE_WITH_ZLIB
to
/* #undef MAKE_WITH_ZLIB */
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
8ZCKFWB - Can Only Display One Local Net At A Time
Problem: ntop appears to display hosts from only one of the local nets.
Status: Can't duplicate, awaiting reply from user.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
JGNPXDB - Bad html causes URLsecurity reject, card.gif
Problem: When ntop sees only a network card and no associated higher
level information (IP address, netbios etc.) the 'printable name' includes
the html to display a network card logo. Later on, the dot in that html
(card.gif) causes ntop to split the tag when converting what it thinks is an
IP address into html.
Proposed solution: Remove card.gif
Status: Awaiting user reply

----
KVJH3BB - Win32 (netFlow?)
Problem:
Status: Win32, refered to Luca...
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
LJJM2V - Crash possibly in processPacket
Problem: Unknown, program fails after hours of execution.
Status: Awaiting reply from user.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
MHVS2W - Bombs in pbuf.c @ 593
Problem: Purge is freeing data fields just prior to their being
updated. This is a threading problem due to lack of mutex protection and is
unrelated to NPTL.
Status: Proposed patch,
NOTE: Call for volunteers to test this patch has resulted in zero response.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
----
PHYKP5 - Unable to display netstats on the cisco port mirror 2950
Problem:
Status: User going to try IOS 12.1.12 to see if encapsulation differs,
awaiting reply
