I'll give the usual answers... It's unlikely that the log message and error are related - the log message is issued, rrdtool returns to ntop and processing continues.
1. Try 2.2c - there's at least one fix for a crash in rrd in that version. 2. Run under gdb, capture the failure information and post it via a problem report. 3. In globals-defines.h, enable the SIGTRAP items, recompile and rerun. However, the logged backtrace this produces is much less useful than the bt full from gdb, which is why this is #3 and that is #2. -----Burton -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of Lauri-Alo Adamson Sent: Tuesday, July 29, 2003 9:03 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [Ntop-dev] ntop-2.2 crashes then rrd_update(...) error occures illegal attempt to update using time . . . Hello! I compiled and linked sources under RedHat Linux 7.3 with no troubles but I've been having problems with ntop-2.2 and rrdtool-1.0.40. Ntop works great by itself but randomly of running with rrdtools plugin enabled ntop crashes with this error rrd_update(/usr/share/ntop0/rrd/intefaces/eth0/hosts/10.0.2.5/pktSent.rrd) error: illegal attempt to update using time 1059473400 when last update time is 1059473400 (minimum one second step) I discovered that other ntop users have same troubles - then I searched in web http://lists.ntop.org/pipermail/ntop/2003-May/005397.html http://lists.ntop.org/pipermail/ntop/2003-May/005378.html etc But I have not found any one who had find the answer or solved this problem! I would be very pleased if some one could help to solve this problem.
