We have exactly the same problem here.
Ntop crashes sometimes after a random time of smooth running.
When it has hanged, syslog shows no message and there's no ntop process logging so no info available.
PS gives no ntop process running.
we use ntop 2.2.0-1 package over Debian Woddy on a 2.4.18 kernel.
Any idea ?

Thanks for the quick reply. I've been checking the process list all
along, and in my particular case, when I can't reach ntop from a
browser, there are no ntop processes running on the server. Any other
ideas?
