Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

A more extensive deployment of ntop CVS 25 Jan 2004 (on to 6 machines)
has shown occurences of the incident reported by Laurent Grilli,
Laurent recently.

Ntop is

. run in dameon mode

. stops accepting connections from either telnet <ntop_host> or Nav
4.7x. netstat -an/sockstat shows that the socket is open.

. logs no extraordinary messages

. occurs on only about 1/3 of the hosts - from those on hosts exposed to
less traffic than others where ntop has been running for some days.

. ntop stops accepting connections within a fee hours of starting.

I will try and follow the debugging advice posted about this recently.

Yours sincerely.

'...No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the
continent, a part of the main. If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less, as well as if a promontory were, as well as if a
manor of thy friend's or of thine own were. Any man's death diminishes
me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know
for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee...'
