How many hosts are on your network (or more precisely how many is ntop
tracking) and how fast is the cpu? That message CAN simply indicate you are
trying to generate a page which takes too long (although the alarm() setting
is pretty generous).

Subject: [Ntop-dev] ntop[pid]: [MSGID8451374] **ERROR** http
generationfailed, alarm() tripped

I am trying to install ntop on linux firewall/bridge - adamantix stable,
kernel 2.4.29+grsecurity, ntop 3.0-3adx2 (from adamantix testing).
I want to monitor br0 interface.
I launch ntop (not in daemon mode because when I launch ntop in daemon mode
it can't access web interface) and open web interface. I can see just some
old data (statistics) - and I find this error in syslog
(ntop[pid]: [MSGID8451374] **ERROR** http generation failed, alarm() tripped
- Please report this to ntop-dev list).
Any idea?

BTW.I can't compile static ntop (--enable-static-plugins; make sntop) on
debian testing - when i execute make install I get this error..
/.libs/libntop.so: undefined reference to `rrdPluginEntryFctn'
./.libs/libntop.so: undefined reference to `netflowPluginEntryFctn'
./.libs/libntop.so: undefined reference to `icmpPluginEntryFctn'
./.libs/libntop.so: undefined reference to `sflowPluginEntryFctn'
./.libs/libntop.so: undefined reference to `nfsPluginEntryFctn'

Jernej
