We see different behavior. We are using tnapi+pf_ring (same version as you, transparent mode 2)
We are seeing little cpu utilization on the kernel but seeing high utilization on the tnapi (99%) module. Maybe this is the difference between transparent mode 1 and 2. Also, our traffic generator is set to send 800Mbps of 64 byte traffic. -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of ext Daniel, Christopher Sent: Wednesday, October 19, 2011 11:18 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Ntop-misc] How do reduce CPU utlization with PFRing. All, I have pfring version 4.7.0 installed (transparent_mode=1 quick_mode=1) and I'm running pfcount with default options on a Intel Dual Core 1.866 GHz 4GB RAM platform. I'm sending around 40,000 packets of size 64 bytes. I see that the CPU is varying anywhere from 9% to 44% as seen with TOP. Are there any ways we can reduce CPU utilization with PFRING? Thanks, Chris _______________________________________________ Ntop-misc mailing list [email protected] http://listgateway.unipi.it/mailman/listinfo/ntop-misc _______________________________________________ Ntop-misc mailing list [email protected] http://listgateway.unipi.it/mailman/listinfo/ntop-misc
