According to the users guide pdf, the -A AS File option takes:
-A: AS file
Network probes are usually installed on systems where the routing
information is available (e.g. via BGP) in order to specify the AS
(Autonomous System) id of the flow peer. As nProbe has no access to
BGP information, users need to provide this information by means of a
static file whose format is <AS>:<network>. AS information can be
retrieved from routers using publicly available tools (e.g. Juniper
routers allow BGP information to be retrieved using JunoScript) and
saved on a file for nProbe access. The file can be stored in both
plain text and gzip format.
However, more recent versions state:
[--as-list|-A] <AS list> | GeoIP file containing the list
of known ASs.
| Example: GeoIPASNum.dat
It appears that attempting to use the flat text file format (I'm
assuming it's AS:Network/mask_length) no longer works, though it
doesn't seem to generate any actual errors.
So my three questions are 1) am I just doing it wrong in my text file
format? 2) If the ability to use a flat text AS list file has gone
away, is there any way to get it back? and 3) if not, does anyone know
of a tool to create a geoip-formatted AS list file? (I've searched in
vain for one, but it's entirely possible that my google-fu has failed
me)
Thank you very much!
-Joe
