Hi,
I've read through the Ntop FAQ and as result acknowledge that most
likely I won't get a response to this;
but is there any way to override the configure script in order to
'force' it to attempt an install on an unsupported platform?
The OS and system that I am trying to install Ntop on is OpenBSD 5.1
release on a SPARQ64 machine, with Ntop version being 5.0.1 (recently
downloaded from the site).
In order to generate to config script I used: automake - version 1.9.6p8
: autoconf - version 2.65 : subversion - version 1.7.2
... afterwards it generated without any errors or fudging etc...
I do realize that it should be more about asking package maintainers and
porters of the OpenBSD project however, since Ntop is still on version 1
I envisage what the response would be like.
It seems that the configure script gets as far as gcc then blows up....
Checking C compiler program and features...
checking for gcc... (cached) gcc
checking whether we are using the GNU C compiler... (cached) yes
checking whether gcc accepts -g... (cached) yes
checking for gcc option to accept ISO C89... (cached) none needed
checking dependency style of gcc... (cached) gcc3

* Checking for unique options for sparc64-unknown-openbsd5.1, gcc...
*
* sparc64-unknown-openbsd5.1 is an unknown/unsupported OS

Has anyone managed to ever compile Ntop on OpenBSD before or perhaps
might be able to suggest something of what I can do that's a quick and
easy fix to get the "configure" script working properly??
Currently I am using OpenBSD as a router/gateway/nat solution which is
why Ntop would be brilliant to get working on the box rather then
bridging interfaces and using another server with supported OS to
monitor the duplicated traffic. - This can be done and is probably what
I will need to do even though it adds an extra level of complexity to
the overall network design......
Regards,
Kaya
