Hello, a bug [1] related to a possible copyright issue is affecting Debian testing. In short it seems that, with respect to GPL licence, an executable may not link both libgdbm and libssl. This bug is a blocker for the next Debian stable release to happen.
A possible solution would be to compile ntop after configuring the sources with the --without-ssl option. After digging in the source code of ntop, it seems to me that this flag will only disable https support for the web interface. Can someone tell me if other functionalities are turned off when --without-ssl option is used? I already thank you for giving some time to this question. Best regards.
