I had the same problem and gave up. But if you resolve this issue kindly
pass along your method.

-> Subject: [Ntop] i see no traffic!
->
->
-> Hi,
->
-> I downloaded ntop-1.3.1-2.i386.rpm and installed it on my
-> Redhat 7.0- system.
->
-> But when I start ntop in web-mode, the Weppage does not show any
-> traffic. After shutting down ntop, the message "0 packets received by
-> filter on eth0" is displayed on the console.
->
-> Why doesn't it log any traffic?
->
-> But there is another problem: After starting ntop, it cannot find the
-> /plugin directory. Maybe this is the reason? Where can I set the
-> correct path?
->
-> Thanks fpr your help.
