I had exactly the same problem.
Are you using a protocols.list file to specify which protocols ntop is
to look for? If so make sure ALL of the protocols are listed on one
line with NO breaks. If the protocols are listed on separate lines of
the protocols.list file than this will insert an extra newline character
("\n") into the %ntopHash where protoUsage.pl is trying to read it.
Another solution is to edit all of the protocal in protoUsage.pl. For
example, instead of {'NBios-IP'} use {"\nNBios-IP"}. It's a little
tedious to edit protoUsage.pl, but it does work.
