It's hard to tell - you don't say which version of ntop you are running,
where you got it from, etc.. And, if it's a prebuilt RPM package, what date
is the source.

There have been problems with the -M flag, although I haven't (yet?) seen
any current reports from people using the most current versions (say
13Feb2002).

I'm pretty sure you have an older version, because as part of the
reorg/refactor/changes, pbuf.c has shrunk. It's now only about
2490-something lines. So an error at 2593 is from the older version...

So, please retry with the newest version...

Thanks!

Hi !

I found the problem: it is the -M switch. Without it, everything runs fine.
Has anyone experienced the same problems ?

segmentation fault(Document link: Franz Walder)

Hello everybody !

I'm new, so ... greetings.

I get the "Segemation fault", too. I couldn't see much correlation between
the former problems and mine, but i post my problems under this subject,
anyway.

Here are the messages before the crash:
...
Sanity Check Failed (3) [LowMemory?]
Index Error idx=96 @ [pbuf.c:2654]
Segmentation Fault
-- crash --

The first two lines can appear about 3 or 4 times before the machine
crashes.

The whole stuff runs on a PIII,500,256MB with RH 7.1, kernel - 2.4.17. Four
NIC's are in the box: 2 * eth, 2 * tr. The only thing it actually does
besides running ntop, is routing via iptables.

And here are the interresting things: if i let ntop monitor only e.g. eth0,
everything works fine; e.g. tr0 alone works fine, too; but every
combination of two of the four if's crashes.

Parameters i use: i, M, w, P, m, u
