Well, after sending out the request to the list for the info I dug around some more and found it. The installer places a script (ntop.sh) in the /usr/local/etc/rc.d directory. In freeBSD I have since found out, any script in that directory (must end in .sh) will be executed at startup. Thanks for the responses.
