I recently install Ntop on a redhat 7.2 server. Our interest stems
from the ability to generate statistics on protocol distribution across our
network. We're interested in finding what protocols are in use, and in what
proportions. Out of the box Ntop does a decent job at showing this in it's
web reports, but there's obviously a few limitations. Most notably, we
can't report on a set time frame.
I notice in the man pages that Ntop has the ability to log data to a
MySQL database. Can anyone explain to me some of the advantages this
configuration would provide, and possibly point me to some instructions to
configure this?

Thanks in advance.
