Thanks for this great work and great effort, i really love this tool but am still not able to convince our security guys that this tool is secure to put in prodcution
Just wondering if anybody can throw some information on new security features of this version, (running the tool without compromising on security ) thanks again Abdul -----Original Message----- From: Burton M. Strauss III [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Thursday, July 11, 2002 12:17 PM To: Ntop; Ntop-Dev Cc: Luca Deri Subject: [Ntop] ntop 2.1 released It is with great pride that I announce the release of ntop 2.1. The official site for the distribution of ntop is SourceForge. Source and rpms are available now or will be shortly. (The rpms identify themselves as 2.1.0 SourceForge rpm Built on 07/11/02 12:14:16 PM) (Initially I am putting up a .i386.rpm, the .i686.rpm will follow) Luca has worked incredibly hard to make this a reality. But in his life, it's really only second place - to the birth of his son, Gabriele Deri, born in Pisa on June 12th, 2002 @ 7:23 PM CET, 3.3 Kg. Luca has allowed me the privilege of making the official announcement! Many others have tested and/or submitted patches. Your contributions are acknowledged here and (I hope) in the AUTHORS file in the ntop distribution (PLEASE let me know if I've missed anyone!). As always, the official ntop site is http://www.ntop.org/ The accumulated knowledge from our mailing list discussions over the past months has been incorporated into an expanded FAQ. We have our community site at http://snapshot.ntop.org and our mailing lists, http://lists.ntop.org/mailman/listinfo/ntop for using ntop, and http://lists.ntop.org/mailman/listinfo/ntop-dev for developing ntop. Is ntop perfect? Sadly no. Our major weakness is the lack of documentation - which is where each one of you can help. Contributions in the form of a simple How To all the way to a full fledged users manual are solicited and would be gratefully accepted! On the code front we intend to continue to test and improve ntop as we identify bugs and new features. (In fact, there is already one post 2.1 patch in the cvs. But it's minor, affects compilation only in a limited situation and couldn't be tested completely without delaying the release.) With this release, we also make public our offering of commercial support. Please see "Deploying ntop in Commercial Environments" at the "Commercial" page of ntop.org. If you have questions, please direct them to the ntop mailing lists! -----Burton _______________________________________________ Ntop mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ntop.org/mailman/listinfo/ntop _______________________________________________ Ntop mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.ntop.org/mailman/listinfo/ntop
