hi, I would deploy ntop and whant to ask what machine I will need to handle my traffic ? Ok I will deploy it with FireBird(Interbase) DB and want to use the same machine for the DB-server, ntop and the web-stat-server. My setup is : up to 2Mbit and up-to 500 users (not yet but roughtly estamation if more I will then probably separate ntop & the DB/web on separate machines)
ntop will send data to the Interbase server which I will use for storing the stats. So what machine will do the job, if the users don't query to often the server for stat (say 5-6 times a day). My current thoughts are for ~1.7GHz Pentium with 256MB RAM. What is your practice do u store stats for year behind or you purge data every month ?
