Hello list: Has anyone on the list experienced monitoring at near 200 Mbps (100BaseFX full-duplex) with ntop or another libpcap-based tool?
I was told by a colleague that libpcap has severe performance limitations above FastEthernet speeds. But reading about nProbe's performance tests at gigabit speeds (http://www.ntop.org/nProbe.html), which is also based on libpcap, I am at a loss... I need to implement such a monitoring solution (mainly identify top bandwidth consumers - applications and hosts) on a busy 100Mbps full-duplex link, so I am considering using ntop, argus or something like that... And would like to know the caveats beforehand. Can someone enlighten me about these libpcap/ntop performance issues and ntop suitability? Thank you very much in advance. /dima _______________________________________________ Ntop mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://listgateway.unipi.it/mailman/listinfo/ntop
