Ben,
from what you have said it seems that ntop receives periodically a packet that's not decoded properly and that hence causes a crash. In order to tackle your problem you need to provide me enough traffic to reproduce the problem. You can start ntop in background, start windump/ethereal and capture packets to a file until ntop crashes. Then mail me the packet dump so I can see whether I can reproduce the problem.

Thanks, Luca

Has anybody come up with a solution as to why ntop.exe is faulting on ntdll.dll.

P.S. – I am running this software on Windows 2003 server.

I forgot to put this event log entry in the email.? Below is what is logged each time it’s stopped.

?

Faulting application ntop.exe, version 0.0.0.0, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 5.2.3790.0, fault address 0x00003847.

I was running version 2.2.4 of ntop when I kept having problems with the service keep stopping.? It seems sometimes it will stop after 5 minutes and other times it will stop after 30 minutes.? I upgraded to 2.2.9 and it seems to still have problems dying out.? Has anybody else seen this problem?

?

The only thing that I am doing after the installation is going to the command line and typing in the following.

?

ntop /r

ntop /i –i 1

?

?

FYI – the network load statistics didn’t work in version 2.2.4 but now works in version 2.2.9.?
