..RH pulled a few threading tricks on the libs in the RH-9'er.
Meanwhile I went Debian on 
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=89171
and I hear it was closed on a wee fix in initscripts-7.26-1,
can anyone confirm this works correctly now?
