I'm not sure I have a clue what the problem is - perhaps you can do a screen print and mark it up or something.
As to stopping sampling, that could be explained if the web server is up, but the processing components (packet capture, idle purge, etc.) are deadlocked. The graph is constructed based on the data in the tables, not based on 'now'.
