i did a search on alerts and found this thread but no follow up that i could see.
Goal: I would like to be notified when a file, 5+ meg movie/dowload, takes place, that i would like some type of logged event (email, syslog) is the following thread the only solution? if so, what would be a rough outline to code it would be helpfull. i have not coded for over 10 years. my only tool for now would be winbatch, and im running notp on windows 2000 pro what other methods has others used or type of alerts with ntop i did purchase but not fully implemented/learned denika, doe any one know off hand that i might be able to achieve this with denika? or what low cost solution should i use for this goal that runs on windows thanks in advance wt --------------------------------------------------------------- From: Scott Stone <ss8913_01 <at> yahoo.com> Subject: RE: alerting with ntop <http://news.gmane.org/find-root.php?message_id=%3c20030605194439.5538.qmail%40web80408.mail.yahoo.com%3e> Newsgroups: gmane.linux.ntop.general <http://news.gmane.org/gmane.linux.ntop.general> Date: Thu, 05 Jun 2003 12:44:39 -0700 but how would one automate a data dump every N number of minutes? That would be required for an alerting script... I suppose the script could use the HTTP Perl module (or python, or whatever) to tell ntop to generate the dump... or is there a signal you can send to ntop to tell it to do a data dump? or some other method? --- "Burton M.
