If I was gonna suggest an OS for ntop, it would have to be a Linux box. Stay away from a BSD box for ntop, BSD is a good OS, but not for ntop.

We need to deploy a very stable NTop installation. We can't afford any
application segfault in a prolonged period of time while monitoring about
2000+ nodes.

Does exist a NTop/O.S. combination which is provenly better than the others?
