You are not running an instance of NTOP inside Apache for example ? Just a weird idea but I had some problems with running NTOP using Apache as a "redirector".

Sounds like the cache is corrupted.  Why I don't have a clue...

Try purging the cache and see if that 'fixes' it.

It is the icons (like web, mail, ntp, etc.) that are listed next to the
node. thre is no rhyme or reason too the exploded icon view, and it doesn't
happen on all the pages. In particular, though, is the active TCP session
page. that is where it is occuring the most (note
- the nodes are not in column 1 of the table in that view).
