Grep is your friend for finding things in ntop ...
$ grep --line-number 'Show Configuration' *.[ch]
admin.c:1724: sendString ("<P Align=CENTER><FONT COLOR = \"FF00FF\">See <a
href = \"info.html\">Show Configuration</A>"
http.c:636: sendString(" [null,'Show
Configuration','/info.html',null,null],\n");
http.c:1558: menuitem(CONST_INFO_NTOP_HTML, "Show Configuration", "");
http.c:1791: menuitem(CONST_INFO_NTOP_HTML, "Show Configuration", "");
http.c:1985: menuitem(CONST_INFO_NTOP_HTML, "Show Configuration", "");
Note that sometimes spaces in web pages are so you need to grep for
that too. Lastly, there are still a few pages as .html files in the html
subdirectory - so you'll need to fix those up too.
Removing admin from the menu is useless - you can always access the internal
web server pages via http://...:3000/admin.html or whatever. Chris' pointer
to setting the password is right on - it's in docs/FAQ (available from About
| Help) - look for the "Why create Userids" article in the "Running - Web
Server - Security" section.
As Chris noted, there's nothing wrong with not having a libpcap filter, nor
with having one. It depends on how YOU need to filter the traffic on YOUR
wire(s) to meet YOUR needs. The message tells you how ntop is running.

PS: As I often say, one problem per message w/ meaningful titles - otherwise
it's impossible to find (in the back traffic for the list) the answer which
has already been given say 27 or 2700 times.

Dunno about language, but you can password protect the admin options that
aren't password protected by default. You can password protect any part of
the interface. See back traffic.......
Second, no, that's not bad. It's just informing you that you have no libpcap
filter set.

Subject: [Ntop] Changing dropdownmenu
I use ntop-3.1 on fedora core 2 server.
I want to modify the dropdown menu in order to change the language into my
native language and to remove Admin from the menu. The usage of ntop on my
server is purely informative for the network members and must not permit any
acces to server thru admin submenu.
How do I do that?
I've looked for the declaration of the menu but I couldn't be able to find
it... Maybe someone could help.
My second problem is that I receive the following message in bottom of ntop
page:
"Listening on [eth1] without a kernel (libpcap) filtering expression"
Is it bad, or "helps" ntop not working properly and if so, what should I do
?
Thank you all!
