What's in the log? What happens if you run under gdb? Have you tried
adding the -DNTPL... Option (look in configureextra/LINUXredhat8.0 - my box
isn't up right now for the complete syntax.

Subject: [Ntop] Ntop 3.1 not starting

I am having a problem with ntop 3.1 not starting on reboot.

The server is a brand new HP ML 350 G4, 2 GB RAM, 2 NICS (one integrated
(eth0), 1 HP NC7771 PCI-X (eth1)) I have it set up so eth1 is the ntop
interface.

OS is RHEL v3, fully patched.

NTOP will start after 3 or 4 tries from the command line - we set the
tracelevel to 7 and there no errors, or indications that any problems exist.

We tried running ntop as user root temporarily, and the problem still
exists.

All other services are using the eth0 interface.
