Subject: RE: [Ntop] Config File

That is a list of directory locations where ntop looks, BUT: that's not where for the configuration, rather for other things, such as the services file and ssl certificate (if relevant).

Directory (search) order
Data Files .
/usr/share/ntop
Config Files .
/usr/etc/ntop
/etc
Plugins ./plugins
/usr/lib/ntop/plugins
NOTE: REMEMBER that the . (current working directory) value will be different when you run ntop from the command line vs. a cron job or startup script!

ntop's configuration is specified on the command line and/or via the web interface - read man ntop - look for the @ option.

Command line
Started as.... /usr/bin/ntop -i eth1,eth2 -u ntop -P /usr/share/ntop -w 3000 -t 4 --disable-instantsessionpurge --disable-schedyield -c -m 192.168.142.0/24,192.168.42.0/24 --no-mac -d --use-syslog=local3

(unfortunately, there's a bug in 3.1, so the Started as line is a repeat of resolved to (this has been fixed in the cvs):

Command line
Started as.... /devel/bin/ntop -i eth1,eth2 @/etc/ntopdevel.conf

See the @?

Subject: [Ntop] Config File

I just installed ntop on my SuSE 8.2 machine and have it setup so it starts at boot up. I went to the web interface and took a look at where the config file is located so I could make some changes. According to the web interface, the config file used is located at /usr/etc/ntop. However going to the /usr directory, I find that there is not etc directory, thus no config file. Can anyone give me a clue as to where the config file would be, and what the filename would be?

Thanks,
Rodney
