We are trying to run ntop 3.1 on a quad xeon system using Slackware 10.1 using the 2.4.31 kernel. It runs fine on 2.4.29. Ntop runs fine as root using 2.4.31, but not as the ntop user. We have other old PIIIs using Slackware 10.1, NTOP 3.1 and kernel 2.4.31 just fine in this manner. We did a comparison using trace 6 running as user ntop vs as user root: ntop -i eth2 -d -L -u root -P /home/ntop -t 6 vs. ntop -i eth2 -d -L -u root -P /home/ntop -t 6
