We are trying to run ntop 3.1 on a quad xeon system using Slackware 10.1
using the 2.4.31 kernel. It runs fine on 2.4.29. Ntop runs fine as root
using 2.4.31, but not as the ntop user. We have other old PIIIs using
Slackware 10.1, NTOP 3.1 and kernel 2.4.31 just fine in this manner. We
did a comparison using trace 6 running as user ntop vs as user root:
ntop -i eth2 -d -L -u root -P /home/ntop -t 6
vs.
ntop -i eth2 -d -L -u root -P /home/ntop -t 6

User Ntop stops at:
Jul 29 16:25:56 testme ntop[1295]: [MSGID8599457] [main:548] MEMORY:
ipTraffixMat
rix structure (no TrafficEntry loaded) is 4.00MB

The next step according to root is:
Jul 29 16:30:18 testme ntop[1322]: [MSGID8599457] [main:548] MEMORY:
ipTraffixMa
trix structure (no TrafficEntry loaded) is 4.00MB

Jul 29 16:30:18 testme ntop[1322]: [MSGID0037760] [initialize:1839]
THREADMGMT:

Can you offer any troubleshooting advise that would help us resolve this
issue? You could save us from growing old too quickly.
