Ntop indeed may occupy a great deal of resources and provide as much data as
possible. Afair that is mentioned in the manual.
My ntop instance is being restarted every day, collects information only
about local subnets, and rrd plugin is disabled. It uses little hard disk
space, little cpu time, and I find ntop interface quite clear and useful.
Probably you need to set up ntop the same way, first of all to turn off
remote subnets monitoring?
