Subject: RE: [Ntop] GDBM open failed

Read docs/FAQ - That message almost always has the cause listed in the log,
further explained in docs/FAQ...

1. What user is this being run as?
2. Is /usr/local/var/ntop owned by that use?

Not a nice solution, but a workaround is to delete all the *.db files in the /usr/local/var/ntop/ directory...

Hi,
Thanks to everybody for all your hints and suggestions. All the matter appeared to be fairly simple: I didn't have var/ntop subdirectory in /usr/local. I knew about it, but because the compilation proces (as well as the attempt to start ntop) was running by root, I supposed that all the file structure necessary to run ntop was already created.

After a few days of efforts with ntop I also have a few remarks maybe worth to include somwhere to the ntop html pages. I hope them to be helpful to the future ntop users and a bit reduce the number of questions coming to the list. Where to send such remarks? To this list (maybe some of you maintain it) or somewhere else?
