Could be... If you read the back traffic, there are some fundamental bugs in FreeBSD 4.x which were sometimes/partially fixed in the later 4.x releases but not fully until 5.2. I wouldn't be surprised if there were other manifestations. You could probably check the back traffic or the cvs and find out the FreeBSD bug report. I don't remember the details...
There was some work-around code in 3.1 which Luca ripped out. Without it (or without it enabled), 3.1 (and certainly 3.2) under FreeBSD 4.x will probably hang. -----Burton -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Ken Sheldon Sent: Friday, January 20, 2006 9:17 AM To: [email protected] Subject: [Ntop] re: ntop crashes suddenly ntop 3.1 / 3.2 does not run properly on FreeBSD 4.1. I believe the problem is FreeBSD. Ntop 3.1/3.2 works fine on FreeBSD 5.4 and FreeBSD 6. On my FreeBSD system, I found I could run most of ntop as long as I did not run the Summary-->Traffic link. (This is the default page) On that page, ntop would trigger a Segmentation Fault generating "Historical View" graph Every request for this RRD image URL causes a segmentation fault: /plugins/rrdPlugin?action=graphSummary&graphId=4&key=interfaces/bge0/&start= now-12h&end=n So, until we can upgrade to 5.x in the production environment, we just bookmark this page http://localhost:3000/thptStats.html and don't click on the Summary-->Traffic ,menu item. Everything else seems to work fine. _______________________________________________ Ntop mailing list [email protected] http://listgateway.unipi.it/mailman/listinfo/ntop _______________________________________________ Ntop mailing list [email protected] http://listgateway.unipi.it/mailman/listinfo/ntop
