Starts to sound like two issues ... One is the way rrdtools is handling the
start time, the second is why there's no data in the rrd.  Strip out the
NaNs as I asked you to and:

Note the <max> 1.2500000000e+08 </max> line - means once upon a time you did
have SOME values in there, but they've rolled off...

For the first, I would try adding =s to the request, e.g. not this: --start
now-12h but this: --start=now-12h.
