This happened with me, and I solved the problem by just making a symbolic link:

1) cd /usr/local/bin
2) ln -s /usr/bin/dot dot

Maybe a hack, but better than recompiling.

It was installed as a YaST package. We do this to make ti easier on ourselves with automatic updates (from the nfs server) and configurations. I'm sure there's some kind of way to fix it or get around it. I guess I'll take a look at the code.

The location is /usr/lib yes. How can I change it to look for that directory? Thanks for pointing this out!

I checked and it did not. I installed it via YaST, went back to the NTop web interface, and I am still instructed to configure the 'dot' tool. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

Subject: [Ntop] Local Network Traffic Map (dot issue)

We're playing around with NTop and trying to get it in production. I went to the Local Network Traffic Map and it gave me this error:
Missing 'dot' tool (expected /usr/local/bin/dot).

When it asks me to set the path and gives me the link, I click the link which prompts for a username/password. The root and ntop accounts do not work, so I cannot set up the 'dot' tool.

Thank you.
