Hi, I was wondering if anyone could direct me to _useful_ resources about using the RRD databases generated by NTop?
What I want to do is use the NTop data for an external application. My problem right now is data. If I'm not mistaking, the NTop dumps (dumpdata.html in PHP or text) do not allow me to link one host to another (and thus allow me to visually portray connections between hosts on the network). They give me a lot of information about one particular hosts, but not about the connections to other hosts. Also, it's hard to simply import this into other databases because I get variable record lengths. What I want to know is how to conveniently extract _relevant_ data from the RRD's for use in other database or webservice systems. I've played around with RRD tool and have extracted XML dumps from RRD files but they don't appear to make much sense. I've read Burton's paper on RRD's (RRD and ntop) but that didn't really help me either. Unless I'm missing something, the way RRD's are used with ntop seems overly complex and inaccessible. Feel free to enlighten me on that subject :) -Tom _______________________________________________ Ntop mailing list [email protected] http://listgateway.unipi.it/mailman/listinfo/ntop
